
Human Dignity Centre
The Human Dignity Centre is a Christian education and aid centre placed in Walmer Township South Africa .
It provides much need support for disadvantaged members of the Xhosa community living in Walmer Township .
Education
The human dignity centre provides daily nursery education for approximately 40 children from Walmer Township .
It also provides an after school facility for approximately 60 primary and junior high school children from Walmer Township on a daily basis.
Nourishment
Over 130 meals a day are provided free of charge to children from Walmer township by the human dignity centre.
These meals are key, as meals may be available at home for these children, but too often they are not, due to the social and economic situation in the township.
Health Advice and Support
Aids and HIV are Major issues within Walmer Township. 30% of the township is HIV positive. The Centre offers what aid, support and advice it can to people struggling with these issues.
Hope
The Human Dignity Centre allows local people from the township to contribute and help their own community deal with the problems it faces.
It also acts as a focal point to facilitate people from other more affluent communities in Port Elizabeth to support the people of Walmer Township, and helps the people of the area know they do not face there issues alone.
